Recycling is an essential component of sustainable business practices. It can impact a company's brand, valuation, and bottom line. We partner with our customers to help them maximize the economic, business, and sustainable value of recycling across their operations.
We are a closed-loop recycler working to extract value from fiber at every point. We call this Sustainability in Motion®.

Extracting maximum value for your business
We specialize in grading recyclable materials to determine its market value and assess its suitability for paper mills and other manufacturers. This process helps ensure that the recyclable items collected can be efficiently recycled and repurposed—minimizing environmental impact every step of the way. Our recycling experts evaluate over 200 acceptable material grades, considering everything from collection and transportation to mill processing requirements.
Whether you're recycling office paper, cardboard, or specialty grades, our deep industry knowledge makes the process simple and efficient—turning complex material streams into sustainable solutions.
Recyclable Materials We Collect

Old Corrugated Containers (OCC)
International Paper produces corrugated cardboard products that protect and promote our customers' goods, helping smooth the way for global commerce. These boxes and corrugated containers are common packaging materials that are 100% recyclable items. At the same time, International Paper Recycling focuses on the recovery, collection, sale, and distribution of Old Corrugated Containers (OCC) that has been discarded after its intended use. OCC is post-consumer fiber that can be recycled into new paper products.
Recycling cardboard takes advantage of these valuable properties while also reducing waste. We ensure that 100% of the used cardboard boxes and corrugated containers we collect are recycled and given new life instead of ending up in landfills.
Box Cuttings (pre-consumer)
Part of the box production process produces scrap. Since this scrap comes from the manufacturing process, it is pre-consumer, making it a high-quality, excellent source of fiber for recycling. It is typically generated during the converting process of folding cartons, set-up boxes and similar boxboard products.
We collect these box plant "clippings" or Double Lined Kraft (DLK), the leftover part of the corrugate sheets that comes from the making/die cutting process at box plants, and transport these materials to our recycling plants or directly to paper mills so they can be turned into new paper products.

Office Papers
Offices continue to use paper for such things as memos, reports, letters, documents, paper filing systems, notepads and envelopes at a healthy rate. Properly recycling these recyclable items and office paper products not only has a huge environmental impact, but can also provide a potential revenue stream to your business.
Our local recycling plants, nationwide brokerage team, and national account teams work with office locations to collect an assortment of paper grades in both pre-consumer and post-consumer forms. It includes white and colored paper, printed and unprinted, and coated gloss and uncoated recyclable materials used daily in offices and schools.
Hard White Envelope (HWE)
Hard white envelope (HWE) paper is clean, high-quality paper without any coatings or prints. It is often used to make sturdy envelopes.
At International Paper Recycling, we recycle HWE paper that is unprinted, untreated, and uncoated. This high-grade paper tends to be very useful for recycling because of these pure qualities. The lack of ink or other contaminants allows it to be repurposed more easily. We handle responsible recycling so companies with excess HWE materials can divert waste from landfills.

Newspapers and Magazines
Newspapers and magazines continue to have their use in commercial businesses and are also recyclable.
We accept both printed and unprinted newspaper materials in both pre-consumer and post-consumer forms.
These include overruns, cuttings, sheets, or rolls from newspaper or magazine production. Newsprint tends to use low-grade wood pulp paper without special coatings, so it works great for recycling! We can also handle glossy magazines, catalogs, advertising inserts, flyers and other coated paper grades. Recycling newspapers and magazines prevent recyclable materials from ending up in landfills. We work with publishers and printers to collect and recycle excess newsprint and magazine paper.
Mixed Papers
For those with assorted paper leftovers, we also accept mixed papers. This category refers to a broad category of various paper types, colors, textures, sizes, etc. collected together.
Basically, any paper is eligible as long as it's not contaminated. Typical examples are mail, office paper (printed or unprinted), envelopes, magazines, flyers, folders, cards, and more. Sorting these materials by paper type can be tedious. So we make it easy by providing customers with the right equipment and solutions they need to collect these mixed papers that might have been simply tossed away.

Plastics and Metal
Paper items are the primary recyclable materials we collect because we use the fiber in our manufacturing processes. But what about your plastic and metal waste? In addition to paper products, we also help facilitate the recycling of plastic and metals with third-party manufacturers who can use them.
These recyclable items include plastics like shrink wrap, along with aluminum, litho plates, and more. Recycling plastics and metals can dramatically reduce waste and environmental impact.
