Business Issues: Postal, Paper, Recycling, Transportation and Workforce Development
Julie Alsup joined International Paper’s Government Relations team in 2004 and advocates for legislative issues specific to IP’s businesses, including postal reform, supply chain, recycling and the company’s workforce needs.
In 2008, Julie helped found the Coalition for Transportation Productivity (CTP), a coalition of more than 200 shippers and associations advocating for interstate truck weight reform. She served as the Chair of the CTP Lobbying Committee and held a seat on the coalition’s steering committee. Julie has also served on the Executive Committee for the Coalition for a 21st Century Postal Service, a mailer-focused organization dedicated to Congressional postal reform efforts.
Before joining IP, Julie spent two busy years on Capitol Hill working for U.S. Congressman John Carter from Texas. Julie also worked full time on the Carter for Congress campaign as his scheduler and media relations coordinator.
