Explore our commitment to building a better future

Taking action for a better future

At International Paper, sustainability wraps around everything we do. As a sustainable packaging manufacturer, we use renewable materials to create low-carbon solutions for a circular world. Our company is committed to doing this by being a diligent steward of our forests, a responsible custodian of our environment and a force for good in our communities.

On January 31, 2025, DS Smith, a leading provider of sustainable packaging solutions, paper products and recycling services, joined the International Paper family, and together we remain committed to creating a more sustainable future and advancing sustainable packaging solutions.

Across our value chain, we design for circularity—prioritizing renewable fiber, right-sizing and recyclability. As a sustainable paper manufacturer, we partner with customers to develop sustainable packaging solutions that reduce waste, protect products and perform at scale. Our approach connects forest stewardship with efficient operations: responsible sourcing supports the sustainable use of forest products, while material and design choices deliver measurable benefits in sustainable paper and packaging. We collaborate across R&D, mills and converting sites to test, learn and improve so specifications meet real-world demands from manufacturing through distribution and retail. We also align goals with certifications and customer requirements to increase transparency and traceability. This is how we turn ambition into action and help brands embed sustainability in packaging across their portfolios.
