Recycling Overview
People everywhere have embraced recycling, and companies like International Paper are leading the way in serving and expanding this essential industry.
International Paper is one of North America’s largest recyclers of recovered office paper and corrugated boxes. With 21 recycling facilities across North America, 15 containerboard mills, and a significant national brokerage system, International Paper collects, consumes, and markets more than 6 million tons (or approximately 10%) of all paper recovered annually in the United States. IP collects and processes this recovered paper at our own plants as well as purchase recovered paper from outside sources. The recovered paper is then used by our mills to create new paper products or is sold to other manufacturers across the globe.
International Paper Recycling is a full-service, worldwide business, comprised of three primary areas:
- Collection, sorting, and processing of paper from schools, offices, printers, retailers, and manufacturers
- Purchase of paper from outside sources for use by International Paper’s 15 containerboard mills to create new paper products with recycled content
- Sale of recovered paper to outside paper manufacturers for use in creating new paper products
As leaders in the recycling industry, our employees are widely known for their professionalism, knowledge, and dedication. Because of our efforts, International Paper is recognized internationally for the consistent supply of quality recycling products and services.
