The company has operations in nearly 40 countries, employs approximately 80,000 people worldwide and exports its products to more than 120 nations. Sales of almost $26 billion annually are derived from businesses located primarily in the United States, Europe, Latin America, Asia/Pacific and Canada.
With approximately 6.8 million acres of land managed in the United States alone, International Paper is one of the world's largest private landowners and operates according to the principles of the American Forest & Paper Association Sustainable Forestry Initiative.

Facilities Worldwide as of December 31, 2004, the Company operated 34 pulp, paper and packaging mills, 145 converting and packaging plants, 26 wood products facilities, 13 specialty chemicals plants, and 2 specialty panels and laminated products plants. We distribute printing, packaging, graphic arts, maintenance and industrial products principally through over 286 distribution branches located primarily in the United States. Additionally, the Company owns approximately 50.5% of Carter Holt Harvey, a New Zealand paper and forest products company operating primarily in New Zealand and Australia.
