General Manager, Government Affairs, Latin America, International Paper Brazil
Eduardo Fonseca is general manager of government affairs for the Latin American operation of International Paper, the world's leading paper company. Fonseca joined International Paper in April 2012 and leads the company's public policy efforts, including all Brazilian federal, state and local government liaison operations.
Prior to joining International Paper, Fonseca was director, government and international affairs, for the American Chamber of Commerce for Brazil, the largest Amcham among 104 in the world, and the largest chamber of commerce outside the United States, gathering over 5,000 companies. Fonseca was responsible for Amcham Brazil bilateral agenda with the U.S. and the advocacy trade activities in Latin America. In Brazil, Fonseca oversaw Amcham's policy advocacy efforts with legislative and executive branches.
At Amcham, Fonseca also acted as the committee’s manager, targeting the FTAA, and leading discussions and task forces on the Brazilian competitiveness, focusing on a better business environment. Fonseca also created and acted as the general secretary of Amcham's Arbitration Center.
Fonseca is a board member of former FIA-USP MBA Alumni, chairman of the government affairs committee of the American Chamber of Commerce, vice chairman of the government affairs committee of the National Industry Confederation - CNI, and a member of the Board of Foreign Investors for the Sao Paulo Industry Federation - FIESP.
Fonseca is a graduate of the Mackenzie University with a bachelor of science in law and has a master of business administration in General Management from Sao Paulo University - USP, with a specialization in International Business from Columbia University.
