In October 2007, International Paper and Ilim Holding formed a 50/50 joint venture, Ilim Group, which is the largest foreign-domestic alliance in the Russian forest sector.
Ilim Group operates major Russian pulp & paper mills in the Arkhangelsk, and Irkutsk Regions, having branches in Koryazhma, Bratsk and Ust-Ilimsk, as well as forestry branches, procuring raw materials to the production facilities, and two corrugated cardboard plants in the Leningrad and Moscow Regions. The Company’s total annual volume of pulp and paper production exceeds 3 million tons. Ilim Group strategy is focused on increasing output of value-added products such as office papers and packaging as well as market pulp, in which Ilim Group has a leading position in Russia and China. A long-term investment program is designed to upgrade equipment, increase production capacity and allow for new high- value product development.
