International Paper achieves recognised quality mark
17th April 2018
We’re delighted to announce that we’re now accredited as an AEO (Authorised Economic Operator). Our new accreditation means that we’ve been recognised by UK HMRC that our supply chain is completely secure.
How does this benefit you as a customer?
This latest accreditation means that not only are we compliant, but we’re more efficient. Being an AEO means that our customs import process is faster than those without the accreditation, in fact, 99.9% of our import vessels will automatically be cleared.
What is an AEO?
An AEO is an Authorised Economic Operator who, by satisfying certain criteria, is considered reliable in their customs related operations throughout the European Community (EC) and is therefore entitled to the benefits of a smoother supply chain.
What benefits does this bring?
Essentially, now that we have AEO accreditation, it means that we’ve been recognised by UK HMRC that our supply chain is completely secure. This in turn, improves our efficiency. As an importer of goods, you can be assured that when our vessels arrive in the UK, the process of clearing the cargo will be sped up dramatically. Many importers who do not have such accreditations can face delays due to security issues.
Also, as an IP customer you’ll benefit when receiving direct loads, as dealing with an AEO means you will not be open to audits to pricing policies.
Why is it important?
Our internationally recognised quality mark indicates that our supply chain is secure and that our customs controls and procedures are efficient and compliant.
Having an AEO security and safety status also means that as well as being reliable in the traditional financial and customs terms, we are also compliant in respect of security and safety standards and can therefore be considered as a ‘secure’ trader and thus a reliable trading partner.
