What is required to register as an International Paper diverse supplier?

  • Your company must be certified as a diverse business enterprise by an independent third party organization.
  • A copy of your company’s current certification must be provided to us via email to ipsupplierdiversity@ipaper.com.
  • The Supplier Profile Form provided to your company, after we verify your certification, must updated and returned to us.

 

What is certification?

  • Certification is a third party review process that gives formal acknowledgment that a business is owned and controlled by a qualifying diverse person who is under represent in an industry.

 

Is there a registration fee associated with registering in the IP database?

  • No. There is not a fee associated with registering in the IP MWBE database.

 

What happens after I am registered as an International Paper diverse supplier?

  • Your company’s profile will be added to the out supplier diversity database.
  • Your company’s profile will be available to internal stakeholders responsible for RFP’s and identifying diverse suppliers.
  • We will contact you when sourcing opportunities matching your product and/or service offerings become available.

 

Does registering with International Paper mean I am a preferred vendor or supplier?

  • No. Registration provides us with your company's vital information so we can match your company to potential opportunities.

 

My company is registered with International Paper.  Why haven’t you contacted us for potential procurement opportunities?

  • Either there currently isn’t a need for the product/service your company offers, a match between your company's product/service and our procurement needs has not been identified, or the opportunity has not become available.

 

Who do I contact to discuss a specific product or service after registering with International Paper?

  • You will be contacted should an opportunity become available which matches your company's product or service offering.

 

What are some diverse business classifications?

  • Minority-Owned Business Enterprise – MBE

  • Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Business – SDVB, SDVOB

Who do I contact for certification?
International Paper does not issue certification.  Certification as a diverse supplier (minority or woman-owned business enterprise) is granted by various third party organizations such as:

  • National Minority Supplier Development Council (MBE)    www.nmsdcus.org
  • Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBE)    www.wbenc.org
  • Women's Business Development Center (WBDC)    www.wbdc.org
  • National Women Business Owners Corporation (WBOC)    www.nwboc.org
  • Small Business Administration (SBA)    www.sba.gov
  • State or local government agencies

 

What are the requirements for certification?
The US based business must not be dominant in its field or industry and it must also be:

  • Organized for profit (public or private).
  • Independently owned and operated.
  • Owned and controlled by a qualifying person capable of performing the daily business management.

Ownership is established through proof that the minority or woman owns at least 51% of the stock of the corporation, or hold a 51% interest in any partnership.  The “control” factor requires proof that the minority or woman holds 51% control of the voting power of the business.
