Ilim Group Joint Venture
In October 2007, International Paper and Ilim Holding formed a 50:50 joint-venture, Ilim Group, which is the largest foreign-domestic alliance in the Russian forest sector. Ilim Group operates three paper mills and produces more than 2.3 million metric tons of pulp, board and paper per year. The joint venture strategy is focused on increasing output of value-added products, such as office papers and packaging, as well as market pulp, in which Ilim Group has a leading position in Russia and China. A long-term investment program aims at upgrading equipment, increasing production capacity and allowing for new high-value product development.
